(June 16, 2014) -- The worlds of entertainment, sports and charity came together today at the Autism Speaks Sixteenth Annual Celebrity Golf Challenge at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, NY. As the longest running golf event supporting Autism Speaks, this year’s Celebrity Golf Challenge raised more than $1 million towards autism research and advocacy efforts.
The event was Co-chaired by Autism Speaks Board Member Kevin Murray and his wife Susan with Autism Speaks Board Member Curtis Arledge and his wife Diane. Autism Speaks Co-founders Bob and Suzanne Wright served as honorary co-chairs. They were joined by a bevy of sports stars and celebrities who hit the links in support of individuals and families affected by autism.
This year’s participants included NY Giants linebacker Michael Boley, former NY Giants players Howard Cross and Mark Bavaro, former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason; NY Knick J.R. Smith; Rescue Me and Revenge actor James McCaffery, Spin Doctors lead singer Chris Barron, saxophonist Michael Phillips and the New York Red Bulls’ Eric Alexander and Luis Robles.
