Rep. Lois Frankel Urges Congress to Step Up Autism Funding

WASHINGTON, DC (March 19, 2013) -- Rep. Lois Frankel (D-FL) urged Congress in a speech on the House floor to step up funding for autism research, saying the investment cannot be shouldered alone by organizations such as Autism Speaks. The Congresswoman joined with Autism Speaks Co-founders Bob and Suzanne Wright earlier this month at the 2013 Walk Now for Autism Speaks Palm Beach, which is part of her district.

"The Wrights will be the first to tell you that even with the progress of their organization Autism Speaks and other fine organizations, it will take the investment of the United States of America in science to unlock the mystery of a disorder that cheats our children and stresses their families financially and emotionally," Frankel said in her remarks on the House floor.
