Ohio Lettuce Company Trains and Employs People with Autism

June 12, 2014

(June 12, 2014) - Lettuce Work is a hydroponic lettuce company in New Albany, Ohio whose mission is to foster independence and self-worth for adults with autism by offering specialized training and employment opportunities so they may continue to develop and explore new opportunities.

The company, founded by the parents of a teenager on the spectrum, has been in full operation for about two months and has two full time employees with autism. The goal of Lettuce Work is to build a fully-operational, self-sustaining commercial greenhouse business that provides school-to-work transition services, job training and employment opportunities for young autistic adults in a professional work environment.

An article from WOSU TV features the company and details the difficulties adults with autism face in employment today.
