NICHQ, or the National Initiative for Children’s Healthcare Quality, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bettering children’s health and healthcare. NICHQ works in many areas, ranging from prenatal support to improving systems that serve children with special healthcare needs. Currently, NICHQ, together with the Autism Speaks Autism Treatment Network (ATN), is assisting 14 autism clinics in North America in improving their healthcare systems. Specifically, this partnership (dubbed the Collaborative to Improve Care for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder) is targeting three specific areas that affect children with autism: long wait times for treatment, constipation and insomnia.
