Michigan High School Student with Autism Crowned Homecoming King

A high school student with autism in Taylor, Mich. was treated to a special surprise when he was voted homecoming king last Friday. Tyler Nunnery beat out all the basketball and football players at Truman High School and got to dance with homecoming queen Kristen Baily at homecoming on Saturday.

“The kids really wanted to do it for him,” Truman Principal Melissa Skopczynski said. “Tyler is a great kid. The kids just love him. This was totally student driven and they wanted him on the court and to be king.”

Tyler’s mother Rhonda praised her son’s classmates for their kindness. “It was just an amazing thing that these children have it in their hearts to be selfless and considerate and accept him for who he is.”
