All of us at Autism Speaks are profoundly saddened at the passing of Senator Edward Kennedy. Sen. Kennedy made access to healthcare the defining cause of his long and powerful tenure in the Senate and, as a community long denied access to essential services, his work has particular meaning for us.
“We are deeply saddened at the passing of an American icon, Senator Edward Kennedy. Last year Sen. Kennedy said ‘We know the future will outlast all of us, but I believe that all of us will live on in the future we make.' These words resonated profoundly with us, as we have looked to this incredible humanitarian in our ongoing mission to change the future for our families and individuals with autism. Sen. Kennedy fought for the rights of the underserved and the disenfranchised. He will be missed,” said Bob and Suzanne Wright.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the Kennedy family and join with the nation in mourning his loss. Thank you, Sen. Kennedy, for your relentless efforts to make healthcare accessible to those with special needs.
