LA Teen with Autism Drowns in Swimming Pool During Class Field Trip

(June 5, 2014) -- 16-year-old Erick Ortiz drowned Wednesday in a East Los Angeles swimming pool after wandering during a class field trip. It is uncertain at this time whether Erick jumped or was pushed into the pool. Attorney Luis Carrillo will be representing the Ortiz family as they accused the Los Angeles Unifed School District of negligence based on Erick's teaching assistant leaving him unattended at the time he wandering from his class.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Erick's family and friends.
