Kind Plane Passenger Reunited with Young Girl with Autism

(April 14, 2014) -- A mother's thank you letter to a stranger on a plane for being kind to her three-year-old daughter with autism went viral earlier this year. Last week, the family was reunited with the stranger in East Brunswick, New Jersey.

The mother, Shannell Mouland, said about the letter, "I only wrote it thinking the few people that followed my blog would read it and know we had a great experience. I never in a million years thought it would reach Eric."

Eric Kunkel, the stranger on the flight, engaged with the young girl after she called him "Daddy" and started a conversation with him. Eric told CBS when interviewed about the event, "I just said yeah, OK. I mean, it's just a little girl trying to deal with a situation that I think being on a plane for any 3-year-old is a stressful time."

The reunion brought back a lot of emotions for everyone. Both Eric and Shanell are still getting positive messages and thank yous from our community for sharing their experience in the hopes that the story will help our society learn to be kinder to one another.
