Improving the Haircut Experience for the Autism Community

June 19, 2013

Haircuts can be a very difficult experience for children with autism and their parents. Snip-its, a national chain, was created "to untangle the hair-care challenges of parents trying to find a stimulating and enjoyable hair cutting solution for their kids." Snip-its stylists are friendly and trained to work specifically with children, and the locations are designed to make sure the kids feel comfortable and have fun!

Five years ago, Autism Speaks responded to the needs of the autism community and partnered with Snip-its to create a haircutting training guide and video to provide information to families and stylists as to how to make the haircutting experience more positive for children with autism.
