Firefighter Starts Autism Training Program for First Responders

(March 21, 2014) -- Treasure Coast firefighter Pete Villasuso has taken it upon himself to educate first responders about autism in St. Lucie County, Florida. In the next few weeks, over 400 first responders and administrators will take part in training seminars on autism. Pete wanted to get involved because of his six-year-old son Ethan who was diagnosed with autism two years ago.

Pete says, “I’m proud of my son. I love my son and he’s autistic and he’s always going to be autistic. So we’re just hoping to raise awareness.”

Pete Villausos is walking in the Treasure Coast Community Walk Now for Autism Speaks on April 12. You can donate to Pete's Walk fundraising page here.
