Family Circle Magazine recognized Zach Certner, 17, as a local hero for his work as founder of Special Needs Athletic Programs (SNAP, Inc.) in Morristown, N.J.
SNAP is dedicated to inspiring youth to work together through athletics, peer mentoring activities, and educational programs. The group runs sports clinics across the state of New Jersey and sensitivity trainings for third to fifth-graders in local schools. Zach tells Family Circle, "We want to remove the stigma of special needs and create a culture of acceptance and compassion."
Congratulations to Zach and the rest of the Certner family.
SNAP was awarded a Family Services Community Grant from Autism Speaks in 2010. Read more about SNAP on our blog here.
