Actress Sophie McShera, who stars in the hit TV show Downton Abbey, is helping make an impact in the autism community. On January 10, 2014, Sophie will help open an art gallery in Doncaster, England. The gallery is run by Artistic Spectrum, an organization focused on helping individuals with autism through art therapy. Emma Wilson, the project leader for the initiative, is excited that Sophie will be participating in the opening.
Sophie McShera told the Derbyshire Times, “The work Emma is doing with autistic people really helps autistic people to communicate and feel part of the wider world. My cousin has autism so it is a cause very close to my heart.”
