The 3rd Annual Autism Speaks at Baltusrol a Huge Success

The 3rd Annual Autism Speaks at Baltusrol was held Monday, September 24, 2012 in Springfield Twp, N.J. The weather was beautiful and perfect for a day on the golf course. 114 golfers gathered to play the famed lower course and raise funds for Autism Speaks. Over 130 guests joined us on the terrace of the club for the evening program, which was highlighted by a poignant story from Zachary Brooks, brother to a boy with autism. Ten-year-old Zachary recounted how he raised funds to support Autism Speaks in his town, with the support of his aunt, and how if he could, he would raise up his arms to take on his brother's autism so that he could experience life differently. Other evening highlights included a long drive demonstration by world champ long driver Jamie Sadlowski as well as presentations by Co-founder Bob Wright and President Liz Feld who shared how the support of those gathered had made a difference to the autism community.

The event raised over $250,000 in support of Autism Speaks' awareness, research, and family services initiatives. Autism Speaks extends its thanks to event co-chairs Susie and Scott Carpenter, Anne and David St. Clair, heather and Peter Kapsamalis, John Sumas and Nico Sumas. In addition, the event couldn't have happened without the support of title sponsor Shop Rite as well as others, including US Bancorp, The Hyde Agency, Coca Cola, Inserra Shop Rite Supermarkets and Zenith Optimedia.
