Autism Speaks and the Long Island Rail Road Join Together for an Innovative Autism Awareness Initiative


Autism Speaks has partnered with the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) in an autism awareness initiative that will reach tens of thousands of commuters. Ads from the current Autism Speaks-Ad Council public service advertising campaign will appear on station posters and in train car cards throughout the LIRR system through September (Click here to learn more about the Ad Council campaign).

Commuters who participate in the LIRR's Mail and Ride program will receive autism information with their September monthly tickets, and flyers will be available in dozens of stations. In addition, the

in Penn Station will include announcements about the autism awareness campaign. The promotion will also feature information about Autism Speaks' upcoming Long Island Walk for Autism Research, scheduled for Sunday, October 22 at Jones Beach.

“This partnership with the Long Island Rail Road provides Autism Speaks with a powerful opportunity to reach thousands of commuters with our message about the scope of the autism epidemic and the need for greater awareness,” said Suzanne Wright, co-founder of Autism Speaks. “We thank the LIRR for its commitment to this initiative and hope that it will inspire more parents to learn the early signs of autism.”
