Our Lady Queen of Peace Students Raise $12,000 with Read-a-Thon Program

Our Lady Queen of Peace in Staten Island, NY held its annual "Read-a-thon" to help kids in need. The entire student body, from kindergarten through eighth grade, read and collect change (Pennies from Heaven!) over a four week period. At the request of a seventh grader, this year's campaign will be for autistic children, as four children in the school have siblings with autism. The inital goal of the students was to raise $3,000.00 during the "Read-a-thon", which they far exceeded by raising $12,000.00!

An OLQP student who has a sibling with autism, encouraged students to raise money for awareness.
