A Day to Believe: Autism Awareness Day at Shea Stadium
From L to R: Lauren Thierry Watkins, fashion designer, Tommy Hilfiger and his daughter, Hilfiger's fiancée, Dee Ocleppo, Autism Speaks president, Mark Roithmayr, and Autism Speaks board members, Laura Slatkin and Kevin Murray
The New York Mets hosted a very special Autism Awareness Day at Shea Stadium in Queens, N.Y. on May 10. Members of the autism community, as well as many family and friends, gathered to watch the New York Mets defeat the Cincinnati Reds 12-6. Guests were also treated to a VIP reception that included a buffet and the chance to meet some very special Mets players.

In addition, visitors perused a silent auction and tried their hand at video games. Mark Roithmayr, Autism Speaks president, was interviewed by Kevin Burkhardt of SportsNet New York, and Lauren Thierry Watkins was interviewed by CW11. The money raised from Autism Awareness Day at Shea will benefit a variety of state-of-the art educational, treatment and outreach programs serving children affected by autism and their families.
