Is Autism an Extreme of the Male Condition?
Editorial of the New York Times article "The Male Condition"
August 15, 2005

Research from Dr. Simon Baron-Cohen's lab at the autism research center at Cambridge University likens autistic behaviors to the extreme male behavioral profile. The differences in behavior in males and females can be attributed to either differences in brain size or activity and may be the result of prenatal hormone levels. His ideas were recently published in an editorial in the NY Times entitled “The Male Condition”.

Dr. Baron-Cohen was the recipient of both pre- and post-doctoral fellowships in 2002.
