Gatorade Features J-Mac in New Ad Campaign

An article in the January 26, 2009 issue of Brandweek magazine titled, "Give 'G' An 'A' For Understanding Autism" tells how Gatorade (recently rebranded as "G") launched an ad campaign featuring Jason McElwain, otherwise known as J-Mac. In 2006, J-Mac, a high school student with autism who served as the manager of the basketball team, scored 20 points in four minutes during a game.

Gatorade's marketing team chose to include him in their ad montage, citing him as "someone who clearly represents the heart, hustle and soul of an athlete." Parents of children with autism are championing the advertising campaign, citing it as inspirational.
