New York Islanders Host “Hockey with a Heart” Awareness Night

On Nov. 15, Autism Speaks was honored as a beneficiary of the New York Islanders “Hockey with a Heart” program. Prior to the start of the game, Michael J. Giangregorio, the Executive Committee Chair for the Long Island Walk Now for Autism, was presented with an $18,000 check in an on-ice ceremony. Former Major League Baseball slugger Darryl Strawberry dropped the ceremonial first puck.

“It's amazing for me as a father of a seven-year-old with autism to have not just a national team, but a home team like the New York Islanders supporting us,” said Giangregorio.

The New York Islanders partnered with Autism Speaks to raise awareness and funds for autism research, advocacy, and family services initiatives. The “Hockey with a Heart”
