Scientists Identify Gene Mutation in Autism
French scientists have identified genetic mutations in a small number of children with autism which could provide insight into the biological basis of the disorder. The finding is based on a study in which the scientists sequenced a gene known as SHANK3 in over 200 people with autism spectrum disorders, and found mutations of the gene in members of 3 families.
