Through the website, people can learn about and support the charities of celebrities and friends. People were asked to create a “charity badge” to raise money for their favorite cause. The badge is located on the six degrees site, and can also be put wherever the creator wants. Ali Edwards, the mother of a five-year-old boy with autism created a badge (seen at right) that she put on her personal site to raise funds for Autism Speaks.
As part of the launch of sixdegrees.org, the charity receiving the highest number of donations
before March 31 will be awarded a matching grant of up to $10,000. As of March 21, Edwards had already raised over $15,000 from 642 donations, putting her in 2nd place. Please consider making a donation today to put her in first and guarantee a matching donation for Autism Speaks.
The contest is based on the number of donations made, not the amount of each donation, but multiple donations from a single individual will only count once. All of the proceeds will benefit Autism Speaks.Donations are a minimum of $10 and are made online through the badge on this page or via Ali's site at http://www.aliedwards.typepad.com.
