Encourage people with autism, their family members, neighbors, community members and service providers to participate at our Chicago location or remotely through the Virtual Town Hall. Together we can enhance the future for adults with autism.
Workshop Discusses Ethics of Risk Factor Dissemination
Scientists, clinicians, media representatives and parents of individuals with autism gathered at Drexel University in Philadelphia for an Autism Speaks-sponsored workshop, Ethics of Communicating Scientific Findings of Autism Risk. Attendees heard from leaders in environmental health, ethics, genetics, genetic counseling, epidemiology, and experts in risk communication, and engaged in smaller group discussions to make recommendations for best practices.
Massachusetts Moves Forward With Autism Insurance Reform Legislation
At the Massachusetts state capitol on Wednesday, Lorri Unumb, Senior Policy Advisor and Counsel for Autism Speaks, and Larry Cancro, Autism Speaks New England Chapter Board Chair, testified in support of House Bill 3809. HB 3809 would end autism insurance discrimination in Massachusetts by requiring health insurers to provide coverage of autism therapies.
