Autism Speaks Hosts 2nd Annual World Focus on Autism

Autism Speaks hosted more than 150 first spouses and dignitaries at the Second Annual World Focus on Autism, held during the opening of the 64th UN General Assembly, to discuss the global health crisis of autism. At the event, Suzanne Wright, Autism Speaks Co-founder and event host, announced the $100 million “Decade for Autism” initiative challenging nations around the world to fund autism research, awareness campaigns and support services for families in their countries. of the Global Autism Public Health Initiative (GAPH) and the impact these activities have had on the current state and future direction of autism public health. The discussion demonstrated how science can provide the basis for addressing autism around the world, but only when properly in tune with the awareness and service needs of local communities.
