Autism Speaks Hosts 2nd Annual World Focus on Autism
Autism Speaks hosted more than 150 first spouses and dignitaries at the Second Annual World Focus on Autism, held during the opening of the 64th UN General Assembly, to discuss the global health crisis of autism. At the event, Suzanne Wright, Autism Speaks Co-founder and event host, announced the $100 million “Decade for Autism” initiative challenging nations around the world to fund autism research, awareness campaigns and support services for families in their countries. Global Autism Public Health Initiative Takes Center Stage at World Focus on Autism Event
An expert panel of autism service, research, and public health professionals convened at Autism Speaks' recent World Focus on Autism event to spotlight the activities of the Global Autism Public Health Initiative (GAPH) and the impact these activities have had on the current state and future direction of autism public health. The discussion demonstrated how science can provide the basis for addressing autism around the world, but only when properly in tune with the awareness and service needs of local communities.
Autism Speaks' "Global Autism Service Training Program," Featured at Clinton Global Initiative Meeting
Autism Speaks' Co-founder Bob Wright, participated in the panel "From CEO to NGO" at the Clinton Global Initiative's Fifth Annual Meeting in New York City. Autism Speaks' "Global Autism Service Training Program," whose objective is to build sustainable training programs for community-based autism services workforce around the world, was featured during the program as “an exemplary approach to addressing a specific global challenge.”
