Seinfeld, Springsteen to Headline Concert for Autism Speaks
Legendary entertainer Jerry Seinfeld and Grammy-winning musician Bruce Springsteen will headline a November 17 fundraiser for Autism Speaks at Carnegie Hall in New York City. David Gregory of Meet the Press will serve as master of ceremonies for the star-studded evening of music and comedy.
IAN Reports on Autism's Effect on Relationships
In the final part of a series on family stress, The Interactive Autism Network (IAN) surveyed parents about the impact that having a family member with autism has on relationships with friends, extended family and partners. The survey reports that although having a family member with autism can negatively affect relationships, it can also build resilience and other positive outcomes.
AIR-P Grant to Fund New Projects on Autism Treatment Research
In May, the Autism Treatment Network (ATN) announced the first Request for Applications (RFA) for its Autism Intervention Research Network on Physical Health (AIR-P) initiative. Under this initiative, funding was approved for four exciting research proposals addressing autism-related medical issues such as sleep disturbances, nutritional deficiencies, metabolism, and bone mineral density.
Autism Speaks Employee Honored with "Women Who Make A Difference" Award
Autism Speaks' own Lorri Unumb received the "Women Who Make a Difference" award Wednesday night in NYC honoring her for insurance reform passage in South Carolina. Tennis great Steffi Graf presented the award, which was sponsored by Longines and Town & Country magazine.
