Weekend Walks Raise More Than $1.9 Million

Stars Raise $360,000 at LA Celebrity Golf Challenge
Autism Speaks' fifth annual LA Celebrity Golf Challenge, held at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., raised $360,000. The event, which took place on April 14, brought out celebrities from the worlds of sports and entertainment. Read more, view photos and video here.
Cleveland's "Rock 'Til It Stops" Rolls in $300,000
Autism Speaks' "Rock ‘Til It Stops" event sold out its first year at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, raising more than $300,000, of which twenty percent will go directly to local autism research and services in Cleveland and throughout Ohio. Guests enjoyed performances by Cleveland's own Michael Stanley and two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Stephen Stills of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Read more and watch video here.

"We Are ... Curing Autism Now" Raises Over $120,000
A record breaking 1,600 participants raised over $120,000 at the 3rd annual "We Are ... Curing Autism Now" at Penn State University in State College, Penn. The event, which is organized annually by Beta Sigma Beta, Pi Beta Phi and Sigma Delta Tau, has increased its three year total to $412,000. Read more.
FDA "Fast Tracks" Sponsor of Autism Speaks' Clinical Trials Network Study
Neuropharm, a specialty pharmaceutical company, and sponsor of the CTN Study of Fluoxetine in Autism (SOFIA), has received "Fast Track" designation by the US Food and Drug Administration. This special designation is granted only in circumstances where a drug targets a serious unmet medical need, and affirms the urgent need for medicines that target autism. SOFIA is the CTN's first industry-sponsored trial, and will evaluate the efficacy of a new melt-in-the-mouth formulation of fluoxetine for the treatment of repetitive behaviors in autism. Read more.
