Walks in Florida and Texas Raise Over $350,000
Walk Now for Autism events in Fort Myers, Fla. and Round Rock, Texas raised over $350,000, attracting more than 3,800 walkers. Twenty-three hundred walkers joined the Southwest Florida walk and enjoyed a resource fair featuring nearly 20 booths. In Texas, special guest Jesse Plemons of NBC's Friday Night Lights joined the walkers at the Greater Austin Walk Now for Autism, where 139 teams raised over $135,000. Wrights Attend Autism Events in Ga., Receive Award
Autism Speaks co-founders Bob and Suzanne Wright were honored on November 10 by The Marcus Institute in Atlanta for their work on behalf of children with autism. The day before, the Wrights attended the National Autism Conference in Atlanta, where their daughter Katie Wright delivered a keynote address. Read more, view photos, and watch video here.
ATP Investigators Undertake Comprehensive Brain Tissue Analysis
The Autism Tissue Program's Tissue Advisory Board recently approved five new projects. Principal Investigators for these studies will undertake the most comprehensive analysis of brain tissue to date. These studies highlight the use of donated brain tissue to explore new and provocative hypotheses about the causes of autism and shape thinking about treatment strategies. Read more.
Children with ASDs Taller, Heavier than Typical Peers
New data from the Interactive Autism Network (IAN), a project collecting information online from families of children with ASDs all over the United States, show that children with ASDs tend to be taller than expected for their age, and heavier than expected for their height, compared to typical peers. Autism Speaks Partners with Jim Brickman
Grammy nominated musician Jim Brickman is donating a portion of proceeds from the sale of his new cookbook and holiday CD to Autism Speaks. For each cookbook and CD purchased together, Jim will donate $7.50. Read more about Jim's involvement with Autism Speaks and purchase the set here.

Wednesday, December 5, is the annual CIBC World Markets Miracle Day. On that day, the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce World Markets donates all trading commissions to children's charities designated by participating traders and fund managers. Since 2001, CIBC has donated over $175,000 to Autism Speaks.
