Autism Speaks 400 at Dover Speedway Announced
Dover International Speedway has announced the June 3, 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race will be the “Autism Speaks 400 Presented by Visa.” This event marks the first time a cup race has been dedicated to a not-for-profit organization. Learn more about the event, purchase tickets or bid on a special one-of-a-kind experience to be the Honorary Starter of the race.
Toys "R" Us Campaign Raises $1.1 Million
Toys "R" Us and the Toys "R" Us Children's Fund together raised more than $1.1 million to support crucial autism research and advocacy. For seven weeks, as part of Autism Awareness Month, all Toys "R" Us stores across the country, and www.Toysrus.com, collected cash donations which will go directly to Autism Speaks. Toys "R" Us also serves as the national sponsor of the Autism Speaks Walk Now for Autism program. Read more.
Study Identifies Autism Susceptibility Gene
A team of scientists at the Pasteur Institute, led by Cure Autism Now-funded researcher Thomas Bourgeron, has published a study in Molecular Psychiatry identifying a new autism susceptibility gene, known as ASMT, which is involved in the production of melatonin. Read details.
