By providing students with the skills needed to secure and maintain gainful employment in a social environment that mimics a working studio, we insure participants with ASD are ready for work. Moreover, socialization with other adults who have common interests is an indirect benefit of our program and has resulted in the formation of friendships. While a number of studios have indicated an interest and willingness to provide contract work to Exceptional Minds trainees, there is a need for more. An adequate and steady flow of studio work will only materialize through ongoing efforts of professionals whose job it is to interface with potential customers, develop work proposals, and manage projects. This is the only way to make sure that our participants get real-world work experience and are able to obtain and retain employment.  The beneficiaries are people with moderate to high-functioning autism who are over 18. They will have shown a long-standing interest in art, graphics, animation and computers, and are motivated to work in the field of digital arts and animation. Participants will have a demonstrated ability to learn and work in a group of up to 12 people, with a student to teacher ratio of 3 to 1, and have relatively good independent living skills pertaining to their safety, hygiene, use of public transportation, handling money, ordering food in a restaurant, and other social etiquette in community settings.
