Actors for Autism is a theater education program specifically aimed at increasing social awareness and understanding of people on the autism spectrum. the Autism Education Project will create original material that will be performed by adults with ASDS in public elementary schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Through these performances, Actors for Autism will create a mutually beneficial open dialogue of understanding, empathy, and tolerance between individuals with ASDS and their communities. Through carefully guided instruction and creative rapport, the actors will help design, develop and initiate shows that engage children, teachers, administrators and parents. While developing their own significant body of work, the performers will receive payment for their performances, while helping to dispel fears about interacting with people with ASDS.
