Therapeutic Respite in Parks (T.R.I.P.) is a program that takes individuals with specific health care needs on weekend respite journeys to Arkansas state and national parks. This program is currently being expanded to include individuals with ASDS. Individualized recreational assessments will be conducted prior to the program and goals and objectives will be established for each camper. Quantitative data will be collected to evaluate the program's effectiveness. Respite continues to be one of the most needed services for families, and this model provides benefits not only for the families, but also for the individuals with ASDS. the T.R.I.P. program is a model that can be replicated all around the country.
