Federal Legal Appeal Project: IDEIA Appeals Autism Speaks' Federal Legal Appeal Project, organized under the auspices of the Family Services Committee, offers free legal aid to certain families in the process of appealing their Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA)-based hearings. If you have received a decision on the administrative level and are appealing at the federal level in the Supreme Court, you may qualify. You are invited to submit your case for consideration.
All cases submitted to the Federal Legal Appeal Project will be reviewed by a committee of attorneys who have generously donated their time for this project. Cases must be IDEIA-based and must have reached the federal appeal level to be considered. Other key criteria the committee will take into consideration include: whether the issues involved are of legal significance that may impact the wider autism community; the anticipated consequences of the appeal; and the potential financial hardship to the family.
