Long Island Horse Show Series for Riders with Disabilities
The Long Island Horse Show Series for Riders with Disabilities (LIHSSRD) provides competition opportunities for riders with special needs at USEF rated shows. LIHSSRD classes are currently held at local competitions throughout Long Island including the finals at The Hampton Classic Horse Show. LIHSSRD classes are open to riders training at any barn that have a documented disability. Join now and become eligible to qualify as one of the top 10 riders in 1 of 3 divisions to participate at the Finals for the 2012-2013 season. Suggested minimum for participation to qualify for the finals is 3 out of 5 shows, attending more or less shows could impact points accumulated.
Participants may be diagnosed with physical, emotional or cognitive disabilities including but not limited to:
- Down Syndrome
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Cerebral Palsy
- Learning Disabilities
- Emotional Disabilities
- Social Disabilities
- Vision or Hearing Disability
Classes offered for all levels - Riders with aids (with Leaders and/or Sidewalkers) through Independent.
