Following the resounding success of the First Annual Nantucket Walk Now for Autism in August 2007 Autism Speaks Co-Founders Bob and Suzanne Wright wanted to give back to their beloved island, which they also call their summer home. The Wrights conferred with local families impacted by autism, and on November 1, the Nantucket Autism Speaks Resource Center was established. The Nantucket Public School system, located mid-island, donated shared office space in the high school for the convenience of staff, parents, students and community members wishing to access the Resource Center.
