Editors' Pick from the Autism Speaks Social Network
One of the best parts of the forums on the Autism Speaks Social Network is the discussion called “Positive things our kids did today.” This discussion originated on the message boards on the main Autism Speaks site and has continued to thrive on the Ning site since its inception last August. With so much uncertainty and frustration in the days of those surrounded by autism, there are plenty of praise worthy moments that are both inspirational and fun to share. One poster even commented on how encouraging the thread itself is. “Congratulations to everyone on this thread! Our kids have so many accomplishments, it's hard for me to keep up with this thread.”
Here are three recent positive comments: My son got TWO stickers yesterday ... one for doing his best work and one for sharing with others!
Alex always asked Why? questions but not really any other kinds of questions. The other night on the way home from my parents house Alex says, “Mommy” so I say, “Yes, Alex,” he says, “Where momma work?” I almost started crying tears of joy. It was the first time that he asked a question to show he is interested in other people and what they do when they are not with him. So I told him where I worked and even took him past the building so he could see. I am so proud of him.
I'm sick and had to go to the docs this morning, when I got home my son gave me a big hug and has been a perfect young man today.
