Welcome to the Autism Speaks online community, which is designed to allow you to share your stories, ideas, questions and concerns. Before getting started, there are some simple rules of etiquette for using these forums:
Get To Know The Community: Before making your initial post, become familiar with our guidelines, and explore existing forums to better understand the conversation within them. That way, when you do start to post regularly, you'll know you're joining the conversation in the right place, rather than starting a duplicate topic.
Be Courteous: Many sensitive and controversial matters arise when discussing a subject like autism. Treat others gently, avoid posting in all capital letters (the online equivalent of shouting), stay on topic and never attack someone personally, or use rude or obscene language. Don't start a “flame war” by responding in kind to an inappropriate post—alert our administrator instead. Offending posts will be removed promptly, and repeat offenders may be prevented from posting in the future.
Protect Your Privacy: Our forums do identify visitors. Remember that any information you disclose in these areas becomes public, so you should always exercise caution when deciding to disclose personal information such as home addresses, phone numbers or personal emails, whether they belong to you or to others.
Let Us Hear From You: If you have questions or comments about our online forums, our administrator would be happy to hear from you. Send feedback to forums@autismspeaks.org.
