After seeing first-hand the struggles Autism brings on children and families, I walk!
I have been an avid Autism Speaks supporter for five years. I fundraise year-round by gathering support for a fundraiser I started called Ridin’ Hawg Wild in Lexington NC. This all began in 2009 when I started researching ways to fund Autism research. Why you ask? My son, Sammy, was diagnosed with Autism at age four.
He has a huge support group full of family and friends. This group was more than willing to pull together to help any way possible. All of our proceeds from Ridin’

On Saturday, October 27th over 8,000 walkers attended the 10th Annual Carolinas Walk Now for Autism Speaks! To mix things up for the 10th anniversary the Walk was held at the zMAX Dragway in Concord, NC instead of the Charlotte Motor Speedway where it has been for the last 8 years. The new venue was a hit amongst many walkers, sponsors, and volunteers! The Walk

Despite Hurricane Sandy earlier in the week, a record number of walkers joined together on the National Mall Saturday, November 3rd for the 12th Annual Washington, DC Walk Now for Autism Speaks. An estimated 9,000 participants came out to walk for research, awareness, compassion and to date have raised $750,000 and counting!
The inaugural Louisiana Walk Now for Autism Speaks took place at the Audubon Park on Sunday, October 28th with over 125 teams and nearly 1,200 walkers in attendance celebrating this first year event. To date over $118,000 has been raised for the Walk with donations continuing to come in. However, the Walk goal of $80,000 was met and exceeded prior to Walk day!

We had a great day on Sunday, October 28th at our Inagural New Mexico Walk Now for Autism Speaks with over 500 participants raising over $25,000.

The 2nd annual Volusia County Walk Now for Autism Speaks on Saturday, November 3rd raised $102,000! It had a good start by beginning on the morning of Walk day at $91,000 - well above the $75,000 goal! Just two years ago, this event began as an off-shoot of the Orlando Walk and has grown in to an established Walk of its own. More than 1,100 people joined together to celebrate an incredible day for fundraising and awareness.
