Over 4,000 walkers joined us at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah for the 4th Annual Utah Walk Now for Autism Speaks. Our participants enjoyed the first year free of rain and snow on Walk Day! Although it was chilly, the stadium was filled with families with their colorful team shirts, team chants, and enthusiasm showing Utah that the autism community is a force all of its own. The Utah Walk Now for Autism Speaks raised over $12,000 on Walk day with an event total close to $100,000!
We were joined by local television personality Amanda Dickson from KSL and Greg Lowry from the autism community to host the events of the day and to get our Walk started. After amazing performances by Dave Eaton and Katelyn Jolley, our kids enjoyed a special Kids Corner that provided games and activities that were sponsored by our amazing partners at ADP in addition to enjoying our inflatables that were donated by Jump n Jims. After enjoying our incredible Resource Fair, Kids Corner, and picture time with local mascots, our teams were ready to start the Walk.
With top team, "With Love from Us!" in the front of the pack, the Utah community rallied and supported their loved ones who struggle with autism. We are so grateful for all of the hard work of volunteers, families, and friends for supporting this Walk and helping to fund critical research for autism. Thank you to all of you and we look forward to seeing you next year at the 2012 Utah Walk Now for Autism Speaks!!!
