The ninth annual Western New England Walk Now for Autism Speaks took place on Saturday, September 24 at Stanley Park in Westfield, CT. The weather brought a little rain but the sun came beaming out right as the Walk began, and with over 1.000 people in attendance, you could feel the energy.
Kristi DeGranpre, Walk Chair, was teary eyed when she spoke regarding her reason, nephew Mathew, for walking. Over $30,000 was collected day of, putting this Walk total currently at $80,000; a huge feat for a small but mighty community. With the resource fair doubling in size from 2010 and new Autism Speaks merchandise for sale, the community was thrilled. The Walk location inside Stanley Park was moved this year, so our families could enjoy not only what we had to offer, but a new playground and swings as well.
