On Thursday June 7th Autism Speaks Head of Medical Research Joe Horrigan, M.D., a clinical child and adolescent psychiatrist, was joined by guest hosts Dan Coury, M.D., medical director of Autism Speaks Autism Treatment Network (ATN) and ATN Program Director Nancy Jones, Ph.D., for our monthly 'The Doctors Are In' webchat. Charity Miles is a new iPhone and Android app that enables people to earn money for Autism Speaks while walking, running or biking. The app launches today, National Running Day, and allows people to earn money for ten of the world’s top charities, including Autism Speaks.

Bullying: A Military Kid's Story

My husband Franklin retired after 23 years in the United States Navy, a decorated naval aviator and test pilot whose combat missions including flying in the opening strike of the Gulf War. During his final 24 months on active duty, all three of our children were diagnosed with special needs including two who were diagnosed on the autism spectrum. It was a blow to the family like we have never experienced nor ever could have imagined. Our dreams for the future began unraveling faster than we could anticipate.

Autism Speaks takes the checkered flag at the Monster Mile

Hey race fans, happened to catch NASCAR this past weekend? In case you missed it, Autism Speaks roared onto the famed "Monster Mile" at Dover International Speedway for three days of fundraising and awareness at the second annual "FedEx 400 Benefiting Autism Speaks" NASCAR race weekend.

Kerry's Korner #17: Kerry Speaks About "Living with Autism"


In this episode I feature an opportunity I had to speak about "Living with Autism" at Dover International Speedway for NASCAR's FedEx 400 Benefiting Autism Speaks Event in Dover, Delaware. Autism Speaks on this day held their first annual "Autism Speaks Day at the Races", the first-ever autism friendly viewing experience for NASCAR fans. Families got to experience this race in an environment specifically designed for the enjoyment of children with autism.
