See How College Students Made a Difference in 2012! 

Thanks to college students across the country, 2012 was Autism Speaks U’s most successful year yet! Autism Speaks U chapters and students played a key role in the organization’s accomplishments and successes.

Check out the list below to see how students helped support Autism Speaks mission to change the future for all who struggle with autism spectrum disorders.

• Help raise over $1.5 million through Autism Speaks U since its inaugural event in 2006.

• Have over 3,000 buildings in more than 600 cities and 45 countries participate in this year’s Light It Up Blue campaign (that includes 241 colleges!). See pictures from campuses nationwide.

• Establish 68 Autism Speaks U chapters across 24 states that are committed to raising awareness and funds while supporting the local autism community. See a list of chapters.

• Provide 650 Apple iPad’s to individuals on the spectrum, through the iPad Grant Program. See the positive impact the iPads had, and how the devices have changed lives. 

• Pass autism insurance reform laws in 32 states. See if your state has approved legislation.

• Allocate over $120,000 to 280 families who are affected by autism and were victims of Hurricane Sandy. 

• Commit $195 million to scientific research and developing innovative resources for families. Find grants that are funded near you.
   
• Support over 95 Walk Now for Autism Speaks events by volunteering, attending and fundraising. In 2012, Autism Speaks U Walk teams raised over $300,000 and recruited thousands of walkers! Click here to find a Walk nearby.
