When I buy my individual or small group policy, including through New Mexico's health insurance marketplace, will applied behavior analysis (ABA) be covered?
Yes. Insurers that offer new coverage to individuals and small businesses are expected to cover ABA beginning in 2014. New Mexico imposes various dollars caps on the amount of ABA that must be provided each year. Because the ACA prohibits annual dollar limits on essential health benefits, insurers may be able to convert these into non-dollar limits (such as a cap on the number of sessions of applied behavior analysis each year).
